Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Key member of four-person executive team. Command all financial operations and hold full budgetary and P&L responsibility for one medical education company and four startups, with three direct reports. Prepare and present financial statements, analysis, and projections to ownership, financial institutions, and potential investors. Identify and resolve issues affecting future growth in partnership with Operating Account leadership.

-             Leveraged strategic banking relationships to maximize cash flow; increased line of credit 50% and optimized collections.

-             Successfully converted all available clients to ACH payments, resulting in better cash flow.

-             Consolidated multiple systems by implementing Creative Manager Pro (Workamajig); expedited project reconciliations, minimized redundancies, and improved communication and enhanced transparency between finance and operation teams.

-             Reduced YoY spending 8% by skillfully negotiating contracts, improving vendor selection, and restructuring personnel.

-             File NY MCTM tax and Commercial Rent tax returns; coordinate with outside accountants to complete Accountants’ Compilation Report and to develop tax planning strategies.

Separate companies–a digital media company and a continuing medical education (CME) company–independently run through common ownership.


Chief Financial Officer

Directed financial operations, including accounting, purchasing, treasury, and human resources. Developed strategic and tactical plans to maximize profitability and value. Worked with outside CPAs on annual audit. Prepared quarterly close and analysis of financial statements. Standardized all accounting and administration-related procedures.

-             Obtained $850K line of credit and maximized interest income using new Sweep Account.

-             Converted all available clients to ACH payments and transitioned company’s largest client from quarterly to monthly billing cycle to improve cash flow.

-             Negotiated sub-lease of 20K SF to 50% below market rate, saving many thousands of dollars.

-             Reduced benefit cost while simultaneously providing Fortune 500 benefits through strategic partnership with Administaff (n/k/a Insperity, Inc.), a professional employer organization.

Manufacturing Controller (1990 to 2004)

Promoted and expanded scope of responsibilities to include all accounting and administrative functions for $50M chemical manufacturing division, with 13 direct reports. Managed financial analysis, capital spending, inventory control, and purchasing as well as monthly closing, plant quarterly expense projections, annual budget, overhead allocations, and head count reporting analysis. Oversaw internal and external audits including Deloitte & Touche, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and U.S. Customs.

-             Deftly negotiated three complex union contracts.
